FREDDY is a solar module and converts sunlight into electricity. FREDDY contains back-contacted Sunpower® solar cells with the highest conversion efficiency. The FREDDY surface consists of semiflexible ETFE. This special fabric has similar properties to Teflon and is both dirt and water repellent. ETFE is more translucent than other plastics and extremely heat-resistant. In addition, a fine structure made of microlenses is incorporated into the surface of FREDDY. These catch the light better and focus it on the solar cells. As a result, more light is converted into electricity and less is reflected. Because ETFE is also a very light material, FREDDY weighs up to 80% less than conventional solar modules made of glass. FREDDY contains numerous fastening eyelets for setting up. With the innovative AMP Superseal connector system, FREDDIES are connected in parallel with constant voltage.
